Authoritarian states (Russia, China, the United States, Israel, etc.) will try to infringe upon the interests of weaker nations whenever they see an opportunity. In the worst-case scenario, they will try to gain profit through war. Switzerland, a permanently neutral country, is one that is constantly prepared for the possibility of war. Swiss citizens anticipate that if they are drawn into war, a large part of their territory will become a battlefield from day one. They are prepared for heavy damage from air raids at the start of hostilities. Furthermore, they accept that it will be difficult to rescue all victims. To minimize this damage, individual homes are equipped with air raid shelters. They understand that sympathy alone will not solve the problem of war damage. They recognize that naive humanitarianism and false tolerance will lead to tragic consequences.
If Switzerland were to fall under foreign occupation, they are prepared for many violent punishments to be inflicted on the inhabitants by foreign troops. Footage has surfaced showing Russian troops shooting and killing captured Ukrainians during their initial invasion, leaving their bodies in the streets. Such actions appear to have been anticipated. Resisting an enemy army occupying one’s territory requires immense pain and endurance. However, when fighting underground in an occupied country, one must fight to avoid unnecessary bloodshed. Many ordinary citizens are determined to sacrifice their lives to maintain their country’s independence. It is inevitable that enemy armies and organizations will cleverly disguise this determination, using propaganda to undermine the country from within, claiming social progress and peace. The actions of Ukrainian citizens in response to the Russian invasion and looting are strikingly similar to the content of Switzerland’s “Civil Defense Manual.”
Military technology is advancing year by year. US President Trump revealed that he used a “secret weapon” in military operations in Venezuela. He called it a “disruption device,” but did not elaborate. Later, accounts from those involved revealed the true situation at the time. President Madunaro’s security detail later stated that “all radar systems suddenly shut down.” Witnesses described feeling “as if their heads were suddenly exploding from the inside” and “like an extremely powerful sound wave.” According to witnesses, the secret weapon also directly targeted the security detail. Less than five hours after the operation began, the president was taken away from Caracas, the capital of Venezuela. The effectiveness of cyber or electromagnetic attacks in military operations is being demonstrated. Cyber and electromagnetic attacks have also been proven effective in the Ukraine War. Japan’s defense capabilities against cyber and electromagnetic attacks are urgently needed. However, perhaps changing the public’s awareness is necessary first.
