At a local meeting, the problem of crows eating garbage was discussed. Crows cleverly eat the garbage that residents put in a net. It is the job of the neighborhood association officials to clean up the garbage several times before the garbage truck arrives. As a result of observation, it was found that crows can be prevented from entering by filling 90-liter plastic bags with grass on both sides of the net. It was found that if the crows do not enter, there will be no damage. The problem became who would prepare the plastic bags with the grass.
Another topic was brought up by a female welfare committee member about the increasing number of elderly people in the town. It is good to be able to live a long life. However, physical aging and mental decline become problems. She requested that people stay as healthy as possible. To that end, she asked them to communicate with their neighbors and increase the amount of time they spend walking. Indeed, walking is a light form of aerobic exercise. This walking increases the amount of blood circulating in the periphery, which has the effect of preventing diseases. Blood carries and supplies oxygen and various nutrients to each organ. It is said that walking 7,000 to 8,000 steps a day is effective.
There is an elderly person who responds appropriately to these requests. He volunteers to watch over elementary school children. He watches over them only in the mornings from Monday to Friday. He was happy to see the energetic children and feel energized. Grass grows around the place where he watches over them. He cleans up by cutting the grass before the children arrive and after they pass by. After 2 to 3 days, when the grass dries, he puts the grass in two 90-liter plastic bags and uses them as blocks to keep crows away. It seems that greeting the children and observing them prevents his cognitive decline. Rather, it seems to stimulate his curiosity and activate his brain activity. As a security measure, the watch team itself is both the purpose and the practice. Furthermore, beautification activities such as weeding also contribute to crime prevention in the community. There is no doubt that a combination of these activities will lead to a longer healthy lifespan. What is interesting is that five activities – crow control, dementia control, public safety measures, healthy lifespan measures, and beautification activities – are carried out in just 30 minutes every morning. These activities may also become a model for well-being.
