Living Wisely in the Future with the Strategy of the Weak Idea Plaza Summary 1395

The world is in the grip of the Trump whirlwind. As Machiavelli’s “The Prince” states at the beginning, the weak must offer tribute to those in power. Machiavelli himself presented the masterpiece “The Prince.” The tribute, whether it be goods or honor, must be what the powerful desire. This is that the difference in the lives of the strong and the weak emerges. In other words, while there is a battle between the powerful and the weak, there is also a battle between the weak. The strong and the weak each have their own unique fighting styles. The strategy of the weak is to turn their battlefield into a field where they can utilize their strengths. This requires the wisdom to achieve results in places with few rivals. For example, the koala is an adorable animal that lives in Australia. This koala secured its food supply by monopolizing eucalyptus. Eucalyptus contains potassium cyanide, which other animals do not consume. However, koalas’ resistance to potassium cyanide has allowed them to transform vast eucalyptus forests into a food resource.

In nature, it is known that when a strong organism’s food type or habitat overlaps with a weaker organism’s, the risk of extinction increases. Daphnia can be seen overcoming this risk. Strong and weak groups of daphnia coexisted in the same pond for nine years. Why wasn’t the weaker daphnia population eliminated? The secret lies in their durable “dormant eggs.” Some groups of daphnia realized their own weakness and created “dormant eggs” to avoid competition with their rivals. The weaker daphnia quickly sensed the growth of the stronger daphnia, using the amount of substances released into the water as a clue, and laid numerous dormant eggs in the fall. The stronger group temporarily increased its population and appeared to thrive. However, they were slow to produce dormant eggs, and many of the stronger daphnia were eaten by fish or other animals. At first glance, the weaker daphnia appear to be losing the competition, but in fact they were gaining an advantage in producing offspring.

Today, the focus seems to be shifting from work aimed at improving productivity and generating profits, as exemplified by the Industrial Revolution, to work that provides meaning in life. Highly skilled people are increasingly withdrawing from the high-profit red ocean. People are now working in the blue ocean, that profits are lower. In blue ocean markets, goods and services won’t sell unless they respond carefully to individual tastes and hobbies. You need to understand your customers and create products and services that they need and enjoy. In blue oceans, there are increasing demands for high-quality services. Enriching your life by becoming familiar with such products and services may become an option for the weak.
